THE OLDEST CHILD
the oldest child, surrounded by siblings younger than herself,
learns from an early age the delights of subjugating others. the
largest piece of cake is hers. that's the rule. she made the rule,
and the rule becomes truth. thought becomes fact, fancy segues
into deed. she is a tiny god. she creates the world in her image
with a wave of her curled fist. later on she grips pen in fist,
and attempts a clumsy recapture.
